Vimal S. Mehta, is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, Kurukshetra with Post Graduate qualifications in marketing, sales and international trade from reputed institutions including Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT- a deemed university ), New Delhi and Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland ( UK) . He is also certified "Quality" professional as "lead assessor" from UK. Qualified Lead Assessor for Quality Management Systems (ISO-9000) (Certificate No. 96/1247 registered with IQA International Register of Certificated Auditors – (UK) (1996).

A resident of capital city Delhi of India, Mehta has visited more than twenty countries in last 30 years. These include; USA, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Portugal, Greece, Ireland, Turkey, South Africa, Mozambique, Japan, Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan etc.

Mehta's interests in cinema are not restricted to film society movement but he has also produced a few short movies and been a casting director for a feature film and assistant cameraman in yet another. A very active member in his film society namely CFF , Mehta was elected as a Hony. Secretary in 2010, a position which he still holds. CFF ( Regd. In 1980) has always been a very active society but under his leadership reached newer levels and awarded Pritiman Sarkar award for being the best society in entire NR region of FFSI.

CFF, has organized many film festivals and other related activities during the last five years. These activities includes seminars, panel discussions, workshops and exhibition/displays of photographs and film posters.

He has worked as General Manager in India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) , a nodal body of Govt. of India for trade promotion. Accordingly, he has experience in diverse fields such as :
i) Trade Promotion including organising of trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, seminars etc.
ii) MICE segment – Training, consultancy, survey & management
iii) International Marketing,

Besides , his interest in promoting meaningful cinema ,Mehta is in photography and also dabbles in filmmaking with DSLR cameras. A few of the short and feature films in which Mehta has contributed have been selected for screening in different festivals in India

He is festival director of one international film festival and been a member of review committee of many others. He has been a member of jury for many photography contests and a few local film festival.

Mehta has attended many national level and international trainings and workshops. He was part of many symposia relating to cinema organized by FFSI, ministry of I&B , Govt. of India and other film development councils including National Film archives, Pune.

He has also been invited for delivering talks on various subjects in India and abroad and have been a guest faculty for different subjects and different institutes in the past. The subjects include events management, trade promotion, photography, art promotion, cultural exchange thro cinema and art etc.

He has recently been appointed india based representative of indian chamber of commerce Japan.he is also been selected as a jury of tromso international film festival , norway 18 Jan-24 Jan. 2016.

At present, he is regularly giving talks at Foreign Service Institute, a training institution of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India".
